American White Pelican Framed Print

Pelicanus americanus

The iconic pelican in all it's glory. One of the largest North American birds, the American White Pelican is a majestic sight in the air. Their large heads and huge, heavy bills give them an almost prehistoric look. The original image dates back to the 18th century, from the book "The Birds of America" by ornithologist and painter John James Audubon. It features life-sized watercolours of a total of 435 North American birds and is one of the most celebrated books of natural history. This image has since been digitally restored to its former glory.

This print is created using a combination of lithographic and photochrom printing processes which allow for the restoration of vintage archives, whilst adding colour, depicting the intricate beauty and details of this iconic bird.

Printed with Japanese archival ink on a matte Hahnemühle paper in Denmark.

Choose from 2 sizes: 158x112 or 70x50 cm.

Available in two frame options: Oak or Black.

Please note that 158x112 print comes in Perspex instead of glass due to the large size.
