Wood Ibis Framed Print

£169.00

Tantalus loculator

On a clear warm day this magnificent bird can be seen gliding through great distances and at great heights. Likely due to its decurved bill, this bird was once known as a "wood ibis" although it is in fact not an ibis, and has since been identified as a wood stork - the only native stork in North America. The original image dates back to the 18th century, from the book "The Birds of America" by ornithologist and painter John James Audubon. It features life-sized watercolours of a total of 435 North American birds and is one of the most celebrated books of natural history. This image has since been digitally restored to its former glory.

This print is created using a combination of lithographic and photocrom printing processes which allow for the restoration of vintage archives, whilst adding colour, depicting the intricate beauty and details of this striking bird.

Printed with Japanese archival ink on a matte Hahnemühle paper. The bespoke natural oak frame is of the highest quality and comes complete with styrene glass to protect your print. Perfect for all posters, these beautiful solid frames let your art take centre stage and serve well in any home décor.

Available in three sizes:

50 x 70 cm
70 x 100 cm
112 x 158 cm (please note that large size prints come in Perspex instead of glass due to the size)
